Even if they were the owner's kids.
Children disappear just like that! I don't care if it's Morton, Chicago or Mayberry, USA.

My dad took me to the "Pop Shop" all the time, too, but that was then and this is now.

Never let them out until they are at least 16, the world is too freakin dangerous, summer is for video games and air conditioning it is wayyyy to dangerous for front yard play and neighborhood bike rides, certainly never out of view of a parent. What kind of parent would ever allow a child out of their sight anyway? Don't you have cable, don't you watch the news? C.S.I. ? Law and Order? Leave it to beaver?

Main street has to be packed that time of day with drunks and meth makers and meth addicts and all kind of freakers and tweakers and what not. Not too mention the filth in downtown Morton, don't get me started, the right thing oh man you ain't kidding, dcfs should really ram it up their butts. Have you seen the size of the rats running around in Morton?

It's been like that ever since they started talk of selling beer in the grocery store.

You did the right thing, it is about time somebody actually from Morton posted online about what a damn dangerous cesspool it has become. Kids out on main in Morton, bad bad bad, and about damn time some of you Morton residents started saying so! Great Job!

That's why kids smell so bad nowadays......they don't go outside and get the stink blown off them like I had to.

They better enforce a dress code and tight security for the Morton Pumpkin Festival this year too.

Blow the stink off ya! That's a good one. KIDS - GET OUTSIDE AND BLOW THE STINK OFF YA!

Leslie, if you were concerned you did the right thing.

I also agree with the other school of thought that kids can be plucked right out from under your nose no matter where you are even if it is in your own front yard.

Kids have to understand stranger danger from an early age.

Being plucked from your front yard is one thing...and yes, teaching stranger danger is an important role for the parent. But it's competely stupid and irresponsible to basically invite danger and expect a 7 year old kid to use his 'street smarts' in front of a bar. Just my opinion.

I probably would have stopped, unstrapped all three of my kids, and really stuck my nose in someone else's business. My kids get the 'stink off' but I do watch them and most likely I'll still be watching past 16 years old!

A parent always worries and sometimes we have to do that for others children as well.
