Mrs. Zou has been working hard to lose weight... so far about 50 lbs. So as her clothes get too big, we've been stopping by second hand stores for jeans until her weight levels out and then it'll be time for a bunch of new clothes. She's actually planning a shopping trip w/ her mom & sis easter weekend.

Weight watchers & exercise. She's been going to the gym at least 2x a week (usually while the 4YO is in preschool) and pilattes.

Yeah, that's what my ex said. lol I do need two closets for all my clothing but it's different seasons and different sizes. I need to get rid of the larger ones, but just can't and I need to hang onto the smaller ones, but store them until they fit again. Right now I'm just trying to fill my house. I kept nothing. You won't recognize the place SAHM.. big difference since you were here last.

I love the Goodwill and thrift stores in general. When I was in Maui my favorite place was Savers, a thrift store, we went there three times! Almost all of Abby's clothes have been from garage sales or thrift stores. If anyone is looking for 18-24 month or 2T girls clothing shoot me a pm, I have a ton that I want to sell.

I go to the Goodwill every so often. Last thing I bought there was a stainless steel thermos bottle that I use infrequently. I have went to the Salvation Army store all the way out off of Allen Rd, but have never found anything that I could use. Is one Goodwilll store better than the others??

I hear Washington is pretty good. Morton has a drop off..but no store that I know of. I'd think they get in some pretty decent stuff as well.

I think the Pekin one is pretty good, although it was pretty picked over last time I was there. I think as the weather warms and people start spring cleaning there will be better stuff.
One thing that bugs me is the price for kids clothes, if you find a 2 piece outfit is is $2.49 each piece. That is $5.00 for an outfit, a used outfit. That seems steep to me. |

Garage sales are cheaper than any Goodwill I've ever been in. Goodwill is a good alternative when the weather doesn't favor garage sales, though.
I'm an auction freak. I gotta force myself to not slam on my brakes and stop at them and then it nearly kills me to pass one up. What I love the most about auctions though is watching the dynamics. I don't even have to buy anything at an auction (which rarely happens. lol) to have a good time at one. BTW... I forget now what language the word auction comes from, but it actually means to get a higher price for something than it's worth. I've seen plenty of ppl get too into an auction and prove that to be true! Unfortunately, I've even proven it myself a time or 2. |

Thanks.
I have to go check out Washington Goodwill this next weekend. Normally, I patronize the one on War Memorial Drive. |
