I am so sick of spam in my blog comments. I use Word Press (blogpeoria.com). Is there anything I can do to limit these?

Go to the "Plugins" tab on your dashboard, scroll down to "Akismet" and turn it on. It's a spam filter. You'll have to go here [http://wordpress.com/api-keys/] and register before it will work. If I recall, it gives you a specific 'key' or number that you'll type in to your blog to get the filter up and running. Once you get it up and running you'll rarely get another spam comment and you can delete your list of blacklisted words (if you were doing that)

Ok...I did what PI suggested and the blogfather endorsed. It was already activated, but I don't remember getting an API key and can't find it on my page. I looked up where to find it and this was what I found: Where will my API key be? It will be in your welcome email. To make sure you get the email, avoid free services like Hotmail and MSN and check your spam filter if it doesn’t show up in a few minutes. (Also, consider whitelisting *@wordpress.com.) I don't ever remembering getting a welcome e-mail. I would assume the application is not working well due to not having the key and the fact I still get oodles of spam. HELP!! I apparently need my hand held...

It's been a while since I activated mine, so I don't exactly recall the details, but I believe you had to enter the key on your blog; under what tab, I'm not sure. Either google for some help, try to re-apply for a key if you never got one or email the blogfather and see if he has any advice.
