When my mom was in college we lived on less than $100 a week ...did it for several years. she graduated in 2005. It really wasn't that difficult, we walked when possible, bought meat when it was marked down, used coupons for essentials such as toothpaste and shampoo usually paying less than 25 cents per product if not free. we didn't use the air conditioner, we kept the heat at around 60 degrees. If the outdoor temp was in the 50's the heat was off. we did splurge on a High Efficency washer, in the end it reduced the water bill, and we hung clothes to dry. we had a pantry that we stocked with canned goods from Aldi's, we also had a small garden that supplied us all summer with tomatoes and year round with herbs. We had basic cable, we had dial up internet, we had cell phones.

Right and as for my cell, don't forget, I don't have a home phone and only pay 65 a month for the cell

You could get a home phone for as little as $23. Remember, cell phones are still a luxury. And Bridget and the girls would have use of it in the event of an emergency.

Bridget has a phone in case of emergency that dials 911 and with a home phone, I can only be reached when I'm at home.

What is so important that it can't wait until you get home? Don't you have a work number you can be reached at? I'm not saying it's ideal but in a pinch it works.
