Incorrect--I said the process by which they reach a theory is a result of trial and error--that success is 99% failure is a colloquialism.  While complete knowledge is impossible, we can see by observing the accomplishments of man thus far that we don't need complete knowledge to act upon what we do know.As for your insistence that there is a god, again, I ask for evidence.  I can provide evidence of biological evolution and the big bang--all I'm asking is for something in return. In rejecting science, you must realize that you are rejecting virtually bottomless oceans of verifiable evidence.  I'm sure you don't neglect to visit the doctor when you're ill (modern medicine itself being a product of the theory of evolution), nor do you choose to walk instead of drive, or write letters instead of use a computer connected to the internet, as you are doing now.  What I'm wondering is, why some and not the other?  Both are based on the same rigorous research. At any rate, I ought to be thanking you for asking a truly legitimate question which deserved a thoughtful response.  Good talk.

I understand the colloquial tounge of the 99% phrase, you just missed my return meaning in the same sense.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Complete knowledge is possible.

-------------------------------------------------------------

You ask for evidence of God, and at the same time claim you have evidence of evolution and the big bang, no, you don't have evidence, what you do have is guess work, or as I like to call it (faith), you're putting faith in that the guess work is correct.

-------------------------------------------------------------

And then you go into some off the wall rant about me not being able to accept what I consider true science, because I won't buy into the guess work science.

"modern medicine itself being a product of the theory of evolution" WTF... are you now breaking into comedy?

The whole paragraph is the reason we can't have a logical talk, $hit like that keeps popping up.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I see where you used Luke 18:24-25 out of context against Kevster.

Do you know who Luke was? What he did for a living?

Do you understand the scipture you quoted? and it's full meaning?

Please, by all means, show me your knowledge of the Bible you say you know so well.

Deacon -

Really, if you look at evolution, big bang, Christianity or any other theory why we and all around us exists, the odds are pretty spectacular that any are correct.

As you may have guessed, I was raised with Christian beliefs, but that doesn't mean I don't question its validity. However, I think any of the theories require some sort of "leap of faith".

But again, you believe what you want and I shall believe what I want. And I bet neither of us will live long enough to tell the other "See, I told you so".

A sad conclusion, frankly.  If what I've seen here is representative of the Peoria area at large, we're almost certain to end up in a second dark age before long.  I'm not talking about the religion itself, it's the religious-inspired hostility to science.  What a sad, sad outcome.  And we wonder why students in the United States lag behind the rest of the world in areas of math and science.

Whoever wants the last word can have it.

And exactly why I never try to get overly involved in discussing religion and politics on a internet thread. Nobody will ever change anyone's mind.
